The government has set a target of recruiting 3 million apprentices by the year 2020. The introduction of the Apprenticeship levy, due to start in April 2017, will support this initiative. A Trailblazer Group of youth justice employers is being established to ensure that funding available through the levy can be maximised to help recruit new people to the youth justice workforce as well as support the development of existing staff.
The Apprenticeship Scheme for Youth Justice will incorporate key elements of the Youth Justice Professional Framework, in particular the Foundation Degree. It is important to note that Apprenticeships are available to all staff – new and employed. There is no age restriction.
