engage an agreed number of young people in reading and seek to improve their reading skills
enable young people to have access to a wide selection of suitable reading material
encourage young people to read outside of their one-to-one support time
encourage young people to complete their individual diary and reward its completion with the TextNow awards scheme: MyChoice!
reward young people for participation and progression using MyChoice!
complete all the appropriate records for every participating young person and return them regularly to the Unitas team where required
establish close links with parents/carers to ensure that all those involved are working towards the same goals
provide suitable venues for individual reading sessions so that young people feel comfortable and able to read aloud
acknowledge Unitas in all publicity and communications with relevant stakeholders.
Awards Scheme: MyChoice!
Awards will be provided via an online points reward scheme: MyChoice! 50 points are awarded each day to each young person who attends, completes the required work and makes a diary entry. Young people working on the programme will receive points to a maximum value of 2500 points (£25 over ten weeks) as part of the TextNow awards scheme.
Young people work with their coach to choose books online via their personal 'wish list' on MyChoice! When they have earned enough points, young people will be able to submit an order to their coordinator.
