Summer Arts Colleges 2009 report successful outcomes for young people

Unitas' Summer Arts Colleges in 2009 performed even better than in previous years thanks to the hard work and commitment of all YOT staff and arts practitioners involved in the delivery of the Summer Arts Colleges.

Information and data collected by YOTs offering Summer Arts Colleges in 2009 has shown that:

  • 87% of young people obtained a Bronze Arts Award and a further 9% of young people achieved a Silver Arts Award
  • 81% of young people completed the programme, with an average attendance 83% of the total hours
  • 70% increased their literacy scores in the Basic Skills Agency assessment at the end of the programme
  • 70% increased their numeracy scores in the Basic Skills Agency assessment at the end of the programme
  • 75% of young people had a positive education, training or employment destination at the end of the Summer Arts College
